landing in Spain
after a long day of traveling i finally arrived in Bilbao. the airport was pretty small so it was easy to find the baggage claim. i was a little nervous about my luggage getting lost because of all the connections that i had..but after waiting a good 25 min they arrived. luckily the carts to carry your luggage were FREE! so i didn't have to worry about carrying all 3 rolling luggage. i didn't know who was picking me up...so i pretty much was just wingin' it. the trainer and assistant coach were there to greet me...luckily the assistant knew some english.
one short drive to the apartment, aka my 'home' for the next 8 months..yikes!
a teammate was there waiting to show me around. it was a lot nicer than i had expected. it seems to be safe, you have to get 'buzzed' in so there won't be any random visitors (not that i know anyone lol). the assistant coach, the teammate and i then went to get lunch..they asked me where i wanted to go.? well i had know idea i was just dropped in a whole new world it felt like. they decide to go to 'american' restaurant...i think not! i ordered a salad to just be safe... and it was bad the dressing was like jelly, i tried my best to eat it but just couldn't. ill be making my own salads from now on.
well nothing is open on sunday in Spain so after lunch i headed back to take a nap after not getting much sleep on the planes, but i had no bedding. i put sweats on and laid on top of the bed and pretty much slept off n on all night. while this whole time the internet was not working... so i had no contact with family n friends back home. :(
